Working Through Issues of Adjustment
Change happens.
Examples of change could be like moving to a different island or state, starting school, changing schools, adding a new family member through birth or marriage, and the list goes on.
It is normal for it to take several weeks for a child to adjust to their new home, school, or family configuration. Sometimes children seem to be excited about the change, but then they start to respond quite differently after the dust settles. Maybe they start to resent the change and seem angry, or they miss the way things used to be and seem sad. Maybe they are having a hard time fitting in, and so they seem lonely.
If after a month passes, and you’re feeling that your child seems to have plateaued or are getting more and more sad or dysregulated, then it may be time to get your child some support, and I would be honored to help your child and your family move forward.
